"It [the Bill] will put us back in the Ice Age.

That just about sums it up for me

The Convergence Bill and Telkom's phone Bill

They will kill our Internet !

First one will kill the Internet businesses or banish them abroad, Second one will make sure that there is NO customers for these businesses

sad day !
mourn for our Internet economy

Yep!

I hate to say it, but there are some things I just cannot do without. Internet, food, water, clothes, women and affordable lodgings. If one of them becomes unattainable I will leave South Africa. At the moment I am pretty lucky, I can afford all of the above. Appart from the women which I cannot afford and luckily don't pay for. [:D] If the government plays this tune for a little longer it will get me thinking... This is not a threat. Far from it. The fact is that I only have one life and regard myself a citizen of the world. Why should I get hung up in a country which is seemingly unwilling to move forward? I am fighting with the rest of you, but laws like this (stupid ones at that) start giving me the traveling itch in a big way! We will know when the war is lost. Not yet though! [8D]

True words bud, that makes two of us. UK sounds quite appealing right about now I must say. 20 squid for a 512k line with a SLA and no cap.. i'll take two for that price

Just imagine where SA would be now if it weren't for Telkom

It is Gooku 's recommandation the convergence Bill be exported to regulate pornography industries abroad.

This is only way the Bill ,make any sense.

It's a crap piece of legislation, designed by the ignorant which will no doubt be implimented by fools....

Well said, ASF.
What a load of bull. The authors of this bill will do well to look at the Chinese government's foolhardy and failed attempts to police their citizens' online publishing and viewing.

Telkom - South Africa's Handbrake to progress.
