Kb/S relating to Mbps

How does the above compare ie.

to get 50Kb/s would a 22Mbps connection be sufficient?

I know this is a stupid question, but I just cant seem to figure it out.

50 Kilobytes/sec would equate to 400 kilobits/sec or 0.4Mbps.
One byte is made up of 8 bits, thus any download rate measured in kilobytes needs to be multiplied by 8 to get the kilobits rate.

Are you sure you are talking 50kbits and not 50kBytes ???
If you mean 50kB/s.... you would need a 400K connection.

Simple answer.. yes 22Mbps is more than enough weather your referring to KBytes/s or Kbits/s :)

Great, Thanks every1, that helps me to plan my network. Im gonna run it at 54 or 108, but im split bandwith per port.

Taking all factors into account, you should get AT LEAST your 512kbps you want to share over a WLAN. So its not a factor. But for a 54Mbps WLAN (as demonstrated in SACM April 2004) you can expect around 25Mbps maximum. Assuming only one node/host on the WLAN that means a maximum of 25Mbps throughput or rather about 3MB/sec. A Sentech connection for example can only provide a maximum (if you are lucky) of 60KB/sec (512kbps) and 60 is well less than 3000 (3MB). If thats what you were asking...

I would bet on getting more than 10Mbps per node in a WLAN at some reasonable distance anyway. I guess at 15km (It has been reported by some..) you wont get near 50KB/sec over WLAN but who knows.
