Laptop for graphic design

Corel DRAW on a Mac? pfft... maybe it's possible in that windows bootcamp mode thing, but definitely not natively.

Get a PC, the stupid idea that you need an Apple computer for graphic design is dumb. 3D Studio Max doesn't work on a Mac either.

Try the following specifications (under R 12 000 and not an apple macintosh)

Intel Celeron i7-3500 Ghz
2.6 Ghz
MINIMUM 8 - 16 GB RAM
500 GB hard-drive
1MB Graphics card eg. Nvidia

Um, not sure what you are on about. You don't get a "celeron i7-3500Ghz". As a matter a fact, Celeron and Core i7 should never be used in the same sentence. Also, stick to the times, 4th gen is out, rather suggest a 4the gen, no one wants to find out they are buying older technology. Nothing wrong with a third gen, bit a 4th gen is just so much nicer.

You get laptops with 1TB HDD's. If you really do a bit of research, you will find out some laptops take 2 HDD's. Some even take MSATA SSD's. A SSD is a critical part in any computer. It is expensive yes, but the performance boost makes it worth every penny.

You also don't get 1MB graphics cards anymore. As a matter a fact, if you are going to get a Graphics card, why go for the bottom of the line? At 12K you can get way better than a GT710 or GT720.

Op, you can also look at the Lenovo Y510P. The only problem might be the screen. The CPU should be able to do a lot of processing. The GPU might be sufficient, and it can take 2 DIMM's. It has a 1TB HDD. It only has on 2.5" HDD bay though.

Put 7 on it - minor change to the bios and you're good to go.

Was also thinking that, already checked if clonezilla can make an image of the disk, was worried about the UEFI/GPT stuff, but seems like the ubuntu flavour will do the trick

Thanks for all the help guys... I think I am gonna go for the HP Envy 17. It costs more but it has good specs.
