I received a "Telkom" lightning protection device with my ethernet router that they supplied. The dumb ass who installed it, put the input in the output and the output in the input. Duhhh....
So, i have little faith in that lot. I have as an added precaution, added an inline ethernet surge/lightning arrestor between the router and my firwall. I hope that at least prevents my fw from getting it up the naught.
I still believe in unplugging when lightning is about, BUT, I leave my line up in the morning, so that I can connect to my web site at home and check whats happening on the web cams. I wish there was some auto disconnect if storm = true ::: type of idea//
Anyways, just wanted to know what others in Gauteng do when it storms.
