Hi everyone,

Does anyone use lightscribe here and if so could you maybe comment on how effective it is? Cause I have a Hp Lightscribe DVD drive and was wondering if the lightscribe part will even be useful or not.

Thanx in advance

I have a Lacie Lightscribe. But it only came with the Windows software disks. Lacie refuses to mail me the disks or provide me with a download. So I am pretty anti Lightscribe at the moment

Aren't the disks more expensive as well?

Rather buy a Canon IP4200 inkjet printer, I recall Game had them for less than R800. They print directly onto the surface of printable discs and do a damn good job at that.

Epson has got some verygood printers available for printing on printable discs as well

I'm sure they do :) Whatever you choose, compare the price of the cartridges before hand. The printer may be cheap but the replacement cartridges might cost you more

Apart from all that, has anyone tried printing like a picture on a cd using lightscribe?

Yes, remember it has to convert the picture into monochrome and I found it didn't handle shading very well. (Would've thought it would process it as a half-tone, instead it just turned it off)

I've seen LightScribe in action - very disappointing, as far as I'm concerned and the discs are ridiculously expensive. I'd recommend a disc labeling system or (if you can afford it) a high quality inkjet disc printer.

Lacie lightscribe software available here. Anything else u need?

I bought a lightscribe drive, paid premium for the cd's and was not very impressed with the results. In my opinion, it is not worth it.

Just did my first lightscribe cd and I think that it actually works quite well except for the part that it doesn't do colour and on best quality it takes 20 mins...
