What does the following mean?

scan_channel_time -> Get/Set scan channel time
scan_unassoc_time -> Get/Set unassociated scan channel dwell time
scan_home_time -> Get/Set scan home channel dwell time
scan_passive_time -> Get/Set passive scan channel dwell time

What is dwell time?
What is difference between passive and active scan?

Basically I want a setting to stop the router from periodically scanning all the channels.

Has anyone been able to get tcpdump working on wrt?

Just use a proper firmware eg: OpenWrt and install the package and you should be ready to go. I use it all the time it works fine.
