What issues should I consider in connecting a bluetooth local area network to a laptop which is acting as server to the network and also running HSDPA connection to the outside?

What exactly are you trying to achieve? ... its not that clear from your post.

Roman,

I'd like to connect my PDA through my laptop to Internet, e-mail and other sites. The PDA is both bluetooth and infrared enabled (short distance) but not enabled for long distance wireless except through another device. All the solutions I have located speak to connecting through a bluetooth enabled phone. Unfortunately my phone is an old Nokia pre-bluetooth. However, I have a 3G card in the laptop which should be able to emulate the functions of the phone. Hope this elucidates the background to the query. :)

Sorry my experience is limited to Windows Mobile/CE, where ActiveSync automatically does what you require without the need to set up a PAN.

In principle what your trying to do should work as long as the Bluetooth stacks on your PDA and laptop both support the PAN profile, tho I havent tried it myself.
