For some reason every time it rains in my area my modem looses sync. It re-syncs again and works fine for a while but then looses sync again. Should I just log a call with Telkom and hope for the best or can it maybe be something on my side that I can check? Has anyone else had this problem before?

I had/have the same problem.

I logged a call and since then it hasnt rained so I cant test it.

You in JHB by chance? It's really irritating!

Sounds like you have a top 40 pop hit on your hands there: "Loosing sync when it rains" ;)

Happens if there is a lot of rain as those "blue" boxes on the side of the road arent exactly the most waterproof...

I'll log a call with Telkom and let them sort it out....... hey, a man can dream , can't he? :)

It definately only happens when it rains, and can be quite irretating if it happen during a BF2142 clan match. :(

It's a prob a cable fault. I finally got mine fixed last week. No sync-loss during last night's storm so all seems to be fine now. Ask techie to check the cabling from your house to exchange.

They replaced the cable from my phone to the pole outside my house. Just don't take crap from them that it's your modem, phone, filter etc. Tell them you are using Telkom equipment then they'll come check it out. Took me 6 months to get them to change my phone's cabling.

My friend had the same problem, turned out that the connection at the exchange was loose, so sometimes it worked and other times (when there was a storm or whatever) it didn't

Thankfully the nice tech replaced the DSLAM card, and things seem to be working again. These cards seem to last about a month only! A mate said Telkom buy them at a dollar a metre of circuit board! :D
