Got this off the NV news forums. Some early dx10 results. Can somebody maybe explain why the ultra gains fps when going from dx9 to dx10 while the 8800 gts 640mb loses 5 fps??

Demo which this take from will be out 15 May and a new nvidia driver is suppose to be released on the 14th this one will support dx10 sli.

Have you tried this demo yet stefan? I just tried it now on my 8800gts 320mb & it averaged about 14fps with dx10 :(

The drivers for DX10 are still bad, and I'm sure this game isn't taking full advantage of DX10.

Most cards performed better under DX9 than DX10, which must be purely a driver issue. Once DX10 games come out the drivers will (hopefully) be optimised and the newer games written from the bottom up in DX10 will make much better use of it.

Odd I have the same card and I get about 30-40 fps average.

Waiting for june's Nag. They said they would put it on the disc. I don't have the cap to download a 400mb demo.:(

You mean't to quote the post above mine right?

Where he said he got 14 FPS with his 8800GTS...

Killa, that would be funny... I guess the next generation of cards will use DX10 even better, but I'm hoping these cards are good enough :O

I'll give the test a go as soon as I download it, probably by tommorow, seeing as no one else will bench it with the 8600GT anyway. :( Can you change between DX9 and DX10 in the game? I'd like to see the difference for myself.

It sounds like it should be dead slow, if people get 14 or even 30-40 FPS with the 8800GTS.

btw guys, settings might have made a huge difference, did one of you run it with 8XAA in 1600 and the other in plain 1024? Could explain it..

Another factor we have to look at here is the publisher. Capcom aren't exactly know for their pc games. So we shouldn't judged dx10 performance solely on a game produced by company which is more focused on console gaming.

There's 2 downloads one is dx10 and one is dx9. Also to run dx10 make sure your dx is up to date. Guys at nvnews had issues getting it to run if theirs weren't up to date.

Hahaha nice one, like I can "afford" to download two seperate 400mb downloads.

Well I downloaded the DX10 trial last night. My 8600GT XXX Edition gets 31 Average FPS in the Snow and 17 Average in the Cave scene.. and that cave scene is insane. Quite playable in the actualy demo, the motion blur helps cover up framerates dipping below 30FPS, which isn't too often in the Snow scenes.

My DX9, it seemed, wasn't up to date, I had to download the April redistributable from MS. A lot of people have that problem using Vista and DX10, here's the link: http://download.microsoft.com/downl...-8a69-5ab32330a5c7/directx_apr2007_redist.exe

Well my settings were on max at 1280x960 with the older drivers(158.24) so I tried 158.43 and it gets 23 now and If I go default it puts it to 1280x720 with HDR on medium and shaders on medium and then I get 50+ :)

Ok finally had a chance to test it out. when I use the default settings and changed nothing then I get 39fps in the cave and 46 in the snow. If I change resolution or anything else the fps goes to hell.

It's only a demo so it's not too bad for a first dx10 attempt.

New drivers from nvidia make a big difference. In snow at default settings I now get 52 fps and at 1280 x 960 I get 42 fps while before I only get 37. Get drivers 158.45 they make a big difference.

Tried this game out a few days ago with my 8800gts and got an average of around 50+- for both tests.

But have to def say WOW!!! Graphics IMO are absolutely amazing!! Gameplay was pretty cool too :p

When you tested it out were you running at stock or overclocked. I have only tested with cpu and gpu at stock so far. will give it go at overclocked soon.

Ok when I oc my gfx to 625/1000 and run my cpu at 3 ghz. I now get 65 fps when at default settings and 52 when I run the highest possible res of 1280 x960.
