LTE Service - Slightly outside area?

My IT manager looked at my phone and says my SIM card is a very old type that does not support LTE and 4G so it is not the phone that is the problem.
I have had it for a long time, since 3 phones back so it is a couple of years old.

Not sure if that would make a difference, sorry.

The RAIN LTE packages, doesn't matter whom the reseller is, are month-2-month. So, get it, test it and if it doesn't work for you, cancel...? Just make sure about the router, as I know some ISPs only give the B315 for free and some still give the B618 for free, but it has some fine print attached to it. I have 2 packages, one with Afrihost and one with MWEB, both with the B618 router. The Afrihost one I can cancel whenever, without penalties. The MWEB one, if I cancel within 12 months, there is a cancellation fee.

Other than you getting someone with RAIN to come test at your house, there isn't much more info one can give you.

Doubt that will be the issue. Is you network mode not set to 3G and 2G only? It needs to be on LTE 3G and 2G.

For you to not see 4G or LTE with Vodacom and MTN is very unlikely to be honest especially if there is portion of rain coverage near you.

So then there is something wrong with the phone. I have never er seen it display 4G and the settings are correct.

I still dont know if;

1. I take the plunge with Mweb on the Rain network with the perfect package but no grantee if will work. Canceling before 12 months means you have to pay for the router. Also the connection is not guaranteed cause it shows I am not directly in the area.

2. I take chance with Telkom who does show I am covered.

Well I spoke to Telkom and they say I am fine to go where I am.

I record all phone calls so I said to the lady "You are stating that I will get connection and 30 meg at least? and up to 90, note I am recording this and if I dont get that I wont pay"

This made her very nervous and she repeated that it is up to 90 meg and the lowest I should get would be 30. So lets see... I take zero **** with this kind of thing. I better get what I have on the recorded call or I will not pay. You cannot sell a product that you lie about what you will deliver.

I made that very clear to her so she was like "So you will hold us accountable for outages and fires?" and I told her that of course I wont hold them accountable for natural things that do happen such as an outage but the average day to day speed better be what she said...

My phone is set to record all incoming calls and outgoing calls automatically. I will play back this recording to them...
I have played back a recording to another company before. Dont **** with me.

My god it is terrible to deal with Telkom.
Now they do not want to accept my FNB banking Proof of Residence yet everyone else does. When I went for my driver's licence they accepted it. For my new passport it was accepted even for opening an account at Capitec it was accepted but not good enough for Telkom.

The frustration I am experiencing it beyond belief.
