MacBook - no superdrive??

You can always upgrade from TransIntl, especially to a laptop Mac compatible BD-R/DVD-R/CD-R when those come out.

Transintl.com ship to South Africa, even use EMS which is cheap and insurable.

The browsing here on the T-mobile hotspot at Starbucks is responsive, but trying to download the Aperture trial, <sigh>, it's coming down at 6KB/s. The T-mobile hotspots in the UK cost the same but offer at least 10 times the speed...

I think too few people realise that broadband connectivity options in the over-monopolied USA are quite limited. I paid like R300 for a 10GB softcapped 3G HDSPA (3.6Mbps) unshaped connection, per month, while in Europe. While in Philadelphia, the B&B I stayed at offered free Wifi but the connection
kept on dropping often and the fastest I could download at was also at about 512kbps on a 10Mbit connection, and that was while everyone
else was asleep, it was a pretty small 4 room B&B anyhow.

Also Starbucks coffee ain't that great either. Italians make the best coffee IMHO.

I didn't see any internal optical drives on the site, so I e-mailed them, and they just replied: they don't carry internal superdrives.

Thankfully I live in London - I can get the drive easily :)

Well, I don't think it's that there aren't any good connectons available. Last time I was here I there was an open wireless network at the Airport (where I spent 12 hours waiting for a flight) which was nice and fast. Also, the family has what they call "basic cable" - whatever that is. At least 10mbits/s - it was pretty damn good.

I think places like these just don't get a realistic connection for the service they're offering.

I like Starbucks - better than Dunkin' Donuts, in my opinion.

Region A Bluray playing on an M3 MBP. Free software nogal. Only thing is the icon is corrupted for the BD, for some reason, "SPIRITED AWAY STAGE SHOW VK"

I have the Superdrive. It's a disgraceful piece of s**t that deserves a recall and refunds to all customers. It's so old and useless that it is literally broken. At least 50% of the time it will flake out during a burn and lose you a disk. My cheap, thousand-year-old Asus external burner still works perfectly today with my M1 Pro MBP.

Google the Superdrive and you'll quickly find it cannot safely be used. I should have attempted a refund at iStore now that I think about it.

Did the portal from 2010 just open for you to our time now, or have you been here for a while?
