Macbook Pro 2017 buy or wait??

Just a note: Be careful when watching Louis Rossmann and Linus' stuff regarding Apple products. They're really out there in terms of trying to get views. Louis especially is one of a breed of rare people that will fix something on the component level, so his annoyance is understandable.
While there is some truth behind the problems, the realities are more complex. It's like if something important breaks on your high-end car. Your dealer isn't going to fix it - they'll just replace it. Apple devices are smaller and more compact and the glue and solder everything onto the motherboard now because in the end it serves the larger community because there are fewer chip pins to go wonky and everything is far more solid (for the most part). Which is why they push AppleCare/iCare+

This doesn't serve the enthusiast market, but Apple haven't been serving us for a while now (still rocking my 2012 Mac Mini), but if you really want the OS and not pay the high cost of the hardware you can go the Hackintosh route.

This is a common grumble, but since Tim's taken over, they're closer to being a Trillion-dollar company than ever, and they're making money like crazy despite people predicting doom and gloom every year. Apple is so far out of the danger-zone, they could produce complete duds for 15 years in a row and still be cash-flush.The "it was better under Jobs" story is super old by now and has rose-tinted hindsight.
Take your blinkers off, Apple rapes consumers, case in point is the new iPhone with a glass back that's neigh impossible to replace, even for seasoned professional mobile device repairers. Apple themselves even charges significantly more to replace the glass back vs a complete new screen.

The really significant part of that fact is replacing the battery is now barely economically viable even on a near new device nevermind a year or two down the road, yet again Apple takes built in redundancy to the next level.

Take your blinkers off, Apple rapes consumers,

Blinkers? Rape? Hyperbole much?
Was the horse you're so high on trotting too much that you misread?

But, but.. That's what I said.. :wtf:
Apple's making their devices harder to fix by third parties, ostensibly to increase their reliability. Remember also that Apple is a US company, a country that currently has very hazy definitions of what you're allowed to do to something you own due to the DMCA.

I was calling the facts out. No more no less.

Another apple fanboi that can't see the forest for the trees.

Apple logic - our devices are neigh impossible to repair, hence they are more reliable??
lol.

There is nothing forcing you to register your electronics when leaving a country. It only means that if you are checked when returning they can hit you with duties and penalties.

.....what next for them to remove to make it even thinner ? surely the keyboard :crylaugh:
Does it really need a screen? Or all those fans.

I don't buy that for a minute.

They push it because it is a source of profit.

That doesn't make it sustainable, and even wealthy companies can haemorrhage money at a frightening rate when things go wrong.

The "it was better under Jobs" story is super old by now and has rose-tinted hindsight.
Jobs is the original source of their poor attitude. Their current product trajectory is the logical result of his obsession with style over substance.

Rape? Blinkers? Fanboi? lol?
I shudder at the thought of your camphor bill for those knuckles. If I were a Freud guy, I'd say you have an oral fixation and a problem with your lack of social status and should not be left alone with equines without adult supervision.

I, for one, have yet to be raped by any of my devices.

Nay, they make it nigh impossible to repair. Horses go neigh

Since the slower amongst us are struggling with the concepts of brevity, and mistake retorts for protestations, let me go through my points for the, what, third time? This time with hyperlinks for explanation of difficult words for those without built-in system-wide dictionaries:

..case in point is the new iPhone with a glass back that's neigh impossible to replace, even for seasoned professional mobile device repairers..
Looked at the repairability score for the iPhone X? It's 6/10. Points for easier replacement of front and back glass.
Look at the repairability score for the Galaxy S9? It's 4/10. Negative points? For the screen glass being difficult to replace.
And just for the record, I said
..harder to fix by third parties, ostensibly to increase their reliability
Word of the day: Ostensibly. I wasn't defending Apple. They do well enough without my help.

Re: Soldering components versus making easier to replaceable
I don't buy that for a minute.

Are you an electronics engineer? I'm not. But have you seen the difference in thickness between a SODIMM port and soldered-on RAM?

Re: AppleCare (or any insurance for that matter)
They push it because it is a source of profit.

So profit is bad?

Mr. Strawman, I'd like a bale of hay please.

And.. about the departed Mr. Jobs:
Jobs is the original source of their poor attitude. Their current product trajectory is the logical result of his obsession with style over substance.

My point exactly. The raw power of BSD with an excellent GUI. Hardware (especially on the laptop/desktop arena) that doesn't creak or, rattle, with hinges that are as stiff as they were ten years ago.

I'm no Apple apologist/hater. Neither am I an Alphabet apologist/hater. Both are worth the other side of $500m and make money with or without me.
I love being a devil's advocate, though. And some of the kids here are hilarious

Triggered.

Nah. Just thorough.
But if you're triggered, I regret playing a part in that. A psychological trigger is often mocked but a truly serious situation requiring medical care.
Except if you're a Tumblerina. In which case you require merciless mocking.
