Anyone know how to configure Gmail so that only received messages arrive in Apple Mail rather than sent messages also?

I send messages in Gmail using a browser when I am away from home or on my PC, and then when I check Mail, I have to delete all my own messages.

Rather annoying situation that I have on my hands. Especially when large attachments kill my monthly bandwidth twice from sending them.

hehehe, I have the same problem. I am not too worried about the bandwidth though, so I have a rule in Entourage that moves all of my sent messages to "Sent Items"

That shouldnt be happening - its pop3 not imap. Are you sure you're not bcc'ing yourself or have a filter running for outgoing mail?

I believe it happens because gmail files the e-mail as conversations ... it is never actually flagged as a sent item, but rather a conversation between yourself and someone else, working on the from e-mail address

Yeah - I should append my original post - it shouldn't happen but it clearly does.

I quite like it happening... cause if I use gmail's web interface to send mails, I want those mails in my PST as well when I finally get home...

I dont think you can disable it though.

Just put in a filter at gmail to delete all mail with ure email as the from. Should work but have not tested it myself.

But it will delete all email sent by u from outlook and online.

It would be nice if there was an option to disable this "feature"

Haven't had the chance to test the idea of filtering emails out sent by me.

I wish it was a simple option though. Perhaps I should recommend it, and then Gmail can get out of BETA!

Thanks guys.
