Location
just around the corner
a friend of mine had been out for drinks and on her way home while waiting at an intersection, noticed a boulder in the road.
while looking at the boulder, it go up and started walking !
she pulls over to find the boulder was in fact a small tortoise.
she calls me and tells me of her discovery, but does not know what to do.

so i tell her to bring it to me, it can stay in my garden overnight where it will be safe, then i can take it back to signal hill (nature reserve) during the day.
next morning i call the local vet to make an appointment for jeremy to have a check-up (injuries etc).
vet examines jeremy, no injuries etc, but seems a little weak and dehydrated.
we then figure out a course of action - decided it's best i keep jeremy at home for a further 48 hours to let him eat, drink and get some excersize in a protected environment before returning him to the wild.

grabbed a camera and set it up outside to record jeremy's activities.
sure enough, jeremy was eating and drinking, while exploring the garden.
this evening day 4 in total, jeremy was taken for a drive to the top of signal hill and released near the kramat, once out of his travel box, took one look back and vanished into the undergrowth.

Looks like this common and widespread species:

And:

Got lots of them here. Will post a few pics from my phone...

Jeremy is a fortunate son. He gon grow up and be powerful like his uncle Johnathan on St Helena.

Gotta find a way for him to meet beautiful chicks though so he stays straight lol. For now anyway.

jeremy may have been partial to classical music.
on two occasions he emerged from the undergrowth in my garden with his head in the air - as though to investigate the music.
these two, seemed to somehow get his attention

Tell me your're white, gay and privileged without telling me your white, privileged and gay. :whistling:

i'm amazed he managed to cross a busy road without being hit by some vehicle, and was busy making his way over a 2nd road - unscathed

i dont know, i had spoken to ppl at CapeNature before going up.
they had someone meet me (who works at signal hill) to find a good spot for him
.
they know the reserve and it's animals - i do not, they selected the area

I can't make a picture bold :cautious:

Either way, good on you for returning the chap to his natural habitat. :)
