Mega100WR2 - Is mine the only that does this (possible security isssue)?

So as per usual, whenever I reset my router I change the default username and password. It so happened the other day that I was accessing the web interface when in the username field I entered admin and pressed Enter. Now I was expecting an error message. Instead it logged me into the interface. Huh?

Closed the browser reopend it and logged on with the set username and password. Accessed the browser. Thought to myself might be a cache, cookies etc problem. So I installed Opera for the first time on my system. Tried to login using admin and it worked again.

Anyone else with a Mega100WR2 that does this?

delete the admin account under your users on the router. or just change its password.

Can't delete it. Or at least I have never noticed an option to delete. In fact as far as I am aware, the web interface provides only for one user. And that one user (on my router) is the non-default name and password.

no.. u can create a couple of users, i think what you have done here is create a new user, and not remove or change the old one. that would be my guess.

w1z4rd, where exactly on the Mega100WR2 is the place where users can be created. I have gone to Advanced --> System Password and looking there it gives the option to change the default user and password. I see nothing there to add/delete users.

The router I have access to now has it under authentication. i am pretty sure ive found it by messing through the configuration menu on most of the new telkom routers.

w1z4rd, are you sure you are talking about the Mega100WR2? What is the exact path you take to get to the Authentication menu?

Make sure you SAVE the settings.
