Modem speed

i dont think our networks support 3.6 yet.
What class modem is your device? even thought your device can run at a certain speed when you use your phone as modem you are limited to the class rating of the modem.

Class modem? I am using my 6110 Navigator which should connect at 1.8 Mbps with HSDPA coverage.

Check the specs on your device. the modem class should be listed on the device spec.

This is all I can find:

Data GPRS Class 32, 107 / 64.2 kbps
HSCSD Yes
EDGE Class 32, 296 / 177.6 kbits
3G HSDPA, 3.6 Mbps
WLAN No
Bluetooth Yes, v2.0
Infrared port No
USB Yes, v2.0, miniUSB

Yes when connecting with the device you get the HSDPA speeds but when you use you device as a Modem you are limited to the device hardware (Serial UART)
On Windows Mobile 6.0 and some flavours of 5.0 the did away the modem dialer utility and replaced it with connection sharing which allows you to use and the abuse the speed.

This is a bit of a let down, I'll say. At least it is faster than 56K dial-up, which by the way I cancelled. Cheers @lantic (wef 20th)!!

So one can only obtain "true HSDPA" speeds with a USB/CARD modem?
