You own the modem as far as I understand, if not, they can pry it out of my dead cold hands

Of course you own the modem. The price of the modem is included in the monthly payments of the contract. Thats why if you purchase the modem seperately you monthly payments decrease.

Geez if sentech ever tried to take my modem back I would ask for my 3500 rand in cash back. Thanx GG HF.

plust the interest!!!!!

Yea, I agree with noone. Feck aff.

Even so, seems to me that Dean, as a Sentech Reseller, should surely be aware of such product information details, i.e. that the client does own the modem after two years, especially as this point is very clearly spelled out in the (six-page) Sentech contract. (One must complete the two year contract though, i.e. the way I understood it, if you cancel the contract before two years is up you don't keep the modem, but if you complete the two years the modem becomes yours.) If Dean is not aware of this, he should (I would think) surely be able to easily research this point himself (i.e. by asking Sentech, not by asking on a public forum where there is inherently (theoretically) unreliable information). Secondly as a Sentech reseller he *should* get the facts from Sentech himself, as he must know (for sure, not by 'public forum rumour') the details and ins and outs of the products. It is not unreasonable then that it *could* conceivably be construed as a veiled FUD attempt to claim on this forum that there is "conflicting information out there" about whether or not the client owns the modem after two years (i.e. in order to generate and exploit some potential modem-ownership anxiety in the public to make his unbundled options look less risky). This seems especially marked in light of how easy it would be to find out the real truth directly from Sentech, i.e. since this is actually a VERY EASY point to quickly clarify with the FACTS (either from Sentech, or just by simply reading the contract) it does make one wonder why Dean couldn't have just simply got the official information first and come *tell us* the facts. If one wants to clarify such important details about contracts between Sentech and its customers, one doesn't ask on a public forum where rumours abound (as is even admitted in Dean's post), one asks Sentech.

It appears that Dean was merely asking for CONFIRMATION, not asking for the first hand info.

Come on guys, give him a break. This is new technology to him too. I've dealt with him over email personally, and he is very good.

Believe me, I'd rather deal with him than fastcomm, and I'd definately urge you to as well. At lease he launched on time, has (mostly) correct information, is friendly and helpful, and so on.

To start,

1. Sentech does not approve me as the reseller, one of the of partners do, who are authorised to do so.

2. Sentech does not like the fact that there are resellers as this diminishes their profit as, it gets shared around.

3. Getting information out of Sentech, with the exception of the helpful people on this forum who work for senetch is very hard.

4. I dont belive these questions start rumors, as in an open forum they will get clarified.

Since this forum is hardly "official" I'd have to agree with the rest. Dean, you should have at least seen the contract, as a reseller. If you had spent the time to go through it, you would clearly see that the contract states the modem belongs to Sentech for the duration of the contract, and afterwards, becomes your property.

'dude' that's your personal view, once again if you don't like what I have to say , just skip right on, making observations of 'of stupid' posts prompts the response of 'stupid posts posters' in this case me.[:I]

Having said that even though you have got one soul to agree with your observation (Johnny-c) my point in this matter was valid!

Mr Dean to his own admission is just 'fishing'.

Further more I still don't know what is Deans agenda?

Unofficially self proclaimed reseller, appointed by Sentech mysterious partner who has authority to issue such appointment, to gr8 disagreement of Sentech who's profit margins are being cut by such actions! And Mr. Dean Is trying to aggregate information that Sentech does not want to share with Mr. Dean, by participating in this forum!

C'mon Mr. Dean be straight with us, maybe we can help you achieve what you set out to do, if what johnny-c claims is true and you are honest friendly hard working bloke!

I at the moment cannot advertise that I am a reseller, buts thats for you to figure out. on a second note, I am not here pretendning to know everying, and when I have a braod question, I fell that this is the place to post it.

I suggest that no one make any policy statements on behalf of Sentech, with regard to their policies on resellers or any other Sentech related issues.

No official comment has been released yet by Sentech on their partner program. However there are channels of information, I would assume that if you are appointed by a partner you would obtain your information via that channel and not directly from Sentech. This is one of the aims of partner structures; to delegate responsibility.

A partner/reseller program makes perfect sense, as this pools resources and in the end benefits the consumer if the partners are well chosen. Happy consumers = more profit for everyone. A statement like: “Sentech does not like the fact that there are resellers as this diminishes their profit” is not very well thought out nor justified.

Some information is inherently sensitive and may often not be publicly released until such time that it is definite. Rumours and speculation will always arise until such information is confirmed by the parties involved. I strongly recommend that we wait for an official comment from Sentech on their partner/reseller program before we speculate any further on this issue.

I belive that we would all be more than happy to have Official Sentech's statment about any issue! So far it has all been roumors!
But it has not been forthcoming from Sentech, not regarding any issue. If they considering diferent options and evaluating situation, that is what one is expect to recive statment like:

"Sentech is curently evaluating diferent options and will be makig desison on XYZ date."

But than Sentech have to feel acountable re the commitment.
Problem is that we seen no accountable comitment from Sentech, take CPT deadline as example. It was moved without any 'Official' explanation, support staff is 'not at liberty' to give reasons, just that date has moved to 27 MAy. Sentech has not felt obligated to inform Customers that have already signed up and recived modem of the decision to prospone the role out!!!

That is unexsuable.

So dw sounded to me like you pull some weight in Sentech, in wich case, please pass this opinion on.

I belive that most of current and potential customer base feels that ther is lack of commitment & acountability on belhaf of Sentech.

[:I]

Well it looks like we finally have someone else here who would like clarification on the comitments Sentech has made / not made.

1. Is Sentech approving Resellers / or has this been done already.

2. Why is there no news or official statement from Sentech regarding this.

3. dw, you seem to have some knowledge into this, as your warning people here not to talk about it, whats your take on this ?

or must we wait for the comitment fobic Senetch to make a decision
