After reading up about ISP's I decided that webafrica was the isp for me - so one week back i went for the Complete Platinum Unshaped package. 5 Minutes i got a mail confirming my order and that things were a go and it would take 3 weeks to get this done, because they needed things from telkoms side, i thought if one needs to wait for telkom then 3 weeks was not bad.

Today - 7 days later i check the status of my application and to my surprize it vanished from the order status page on my webafrica page.

Mailed them and then I got the usual SA response to bad service - oops sorry the guy that should have done this is not in today and we dont know why it was not follow-up, blah blah blah - thus only one week into my relationship with webafrica things have gone pear shaped already.

And they got 89% on service delivery - and telkom got 42%, and it took telkom 4 days to install eveything in my home 2 years back.

You're contradicting yourself here mate ;)

How can you compare Telscum's SLA from 2 years ago with a survey that has been done just now?

no that is true - the reason i moved is the current service i got from them and the fact that they are rated the lowest - so i thought i would move to the best.

Yes they are the best as voted by ppl here ;)

You got some bad service, sure.
Who doesn't?
Find a perfect business and you'll get my vote for...oh whatever you want :)
Stick it out with them - escalate your complaint if you like - I'm sure they'll sort you out.

I'm with Cybersmart cos 3Gig a month is ok for me- but I was with WA on 10Gig IS local only for a few months and called their call centre twice in that time (due to my own stupidity) and they sorted me out - no worries.

Escalate your problem and have them give you feedback.
This is one hurdle you would certainly have to stride over.
After that, based on all the good things I've seen mentioned here - you can't go wrong :)

Yip - i will stick it out - i heard they are good. But that whole storie of 1st impressions - well i'll give then another week - and this was also a 3 day week actually, dont think telkom would have done much from their side actually.

Will keep you posted on how the rest of the process goes.

Hiya thiartc,

I am grieved to hear that you have had to endure a negative experience with us, my most sincere apologies.

Could you perhaps forward on your client code or ticket # to me so I can see that this is investigated for you immediately.

Oh yes (as seen above), they participate openly on this forum...unlike Telkom

Yip - That i noticed, its the great thing about them - not hiding - willing to stick their necks out on this forum and trying to sort things out.

You are assured of good service from Webafrica. But their prices have stagnated recently. They have not been passing wholsale price cuts onto their clients.

R290 (WebAfrica) for 5GB SAIX vs R239 (Openweb) is quite a shortfall for a company that used to have the best prices in town.

Thats an interesting observation :o mmm

I also had serious problems with them almost a year ago. I gave them a chance to sort it out, and the service has been perfect from then on.

Activated 12/1/2008 Not exaclty 3 weeks - but seeing the the whole of Telkom was on leave in december - not a bad showing.

It was really easy setting-up e-mail and all those and the speed i get is way better that will telkom.

So appart from a hic-up on the 1st date - everything has gone smooth so far.
