Motherboard not Detecting IDE Devices

Did you install a new FlashDrive / Memory Stick by any chance?
If so uninstall the security drivers that came with it.
The latest version is known to cause problems with IDE devices if the Memory Stick is not present at boot time.
Can't recall wher I got the info but Google on USB Memory and IDE for more info.

Cheers
Chris
yup i had something similar with USB flash stick and digital camera memory card usb adapter . It would cause the main drive to be changed to the slave drive at reboot. Did the cable change thing and a new bios battery, problem has'nt reoccurred since .
