I hope it is just a case of him not gelling with this year's bike. I also think that like Max Verstappen, almost anyone who is lined up alongside Acosta would be made to look ordinary. Like Bagnaia, he hasn't suddenly become a bad rider overnight. But yeah, this could be a make or break season with KTM and/or his MotoGP career. I believe he has a lot to offer still, so if he is ejected from the KTM group, another team would welcome him.

Hopefully, a change of crew chief will help. I see he is linking up with Phil Marron, the man who took Toprak to several WorldSBK titles.

I get that Acosta has been mentioned as the next alien, but Brad didn't just lose the head-to-head, he was destroyed. Only 2 top 5s all season while Acosta was scoring podiums. Acosta is doing to him what he done to Oliveira. If not worse.

As for Pecco, I personally think he cracked. His end to the season was horrendous and his defeatist talk didn't help. He admitted that he cannot ride the bike the way Marc does. Others said it at Honda. Cal Crutchlow said he could see Marc's data and exactly what he was doing, but he just couldn't do it. But it was said in a more impressed, amazed sort of way, as if to say ''Yes, I can visibly see he is one of the GOATs while I have my limitations''. Pecco was just defeated, stratight up saying he'd rather crash than struggle to even beat other bikes, never mind get on terms with Marc. And well, he did crash. A lot towards the end. The GP25 was a bit of a step back from the GP24 in some ways, but Pecco wasn't just blown away by Marc, he was beaten by Alex, Bez and Acosta. 2026 could determine whether he stays on the factory machine or not. Alex gets a GP26 next season as well.

If he has cracked, then it is one of the biggest meltdowns I have seen. From a dominant two time world champ and fighting hard for a third, to rolling over and getting his tummy scratched. The biggest concern will be the complete unknown of what has caused this. Ducati, by their and Pecco's admission, has turned the bike upside down to get to the bottom and they are apparently still no nearer to a solution. I suspect the pre-season tests are going to be quite intense for him.

Yeah, Brad will be on a knife's edge and I suspect that internally, he will have performance requirements discussions with the team. I wonder if KTM will be keeping a close eye on Yamaha and Quaratararo for 2027 if Brad fails to deliver. He and Acosta would make a fearsome combo. Only question is would they have deep enough pockets to bring him over, or would he willingly move with a salary cut if it meant he was given a competitive ride.

The only other epic meltdown I can recall is Sete Gibernau after Rossi put a ''curse '' on him. He was never the same after that, with Rossi confining him to the netherrealm in Jerez with that move.

I like that you mentioned Quartararo, because he has said he will look to move if the Yammie V4 doesn't deliver. KTM's financial situation could be am obstacle, though. Not sure what they look like long term.
