To the point!
I got a Motorola V360v with a vodacom sim, but I chucked the sim because I wanted to use Virgin, and from looking at the specs of the normal silver V360 it says it has EDGE support. (177Kbps I think :o)
But now when I D/L I only get between 7Kb ~10Kb and it stays on average at 8Kb/sec or 9Kb from good server or P2P.
What I wanna know is, are these speeds EDGE speeds or is it just normal GPRS? Is the V360v even capable of Edge or is it just V360?
The phone says "GPRS Active" on the screen while I'm connected.

Ok I know the v360v is EDGE capable, but vodacom dnt support EDGE and MTN only in certain areas, so im thinking Virgin not fully support yet.

Kb = kilo BITS and KB = kilo BYTES. 177Kbps = 22 KBps but will only be available on the perfect network. 8KB/sec (not 8Kb/sec) is a good average for EDGE and the same that I got on the MTN network with an EDGE phone. GPRS is about 4KB/s...

No Edge

The Vodafone Branded Motorola V360v is not EDGE enabled (Vodacom purchased)

The normal unbranded Motorola V360 is EDGE enabled (MTN, Cell C & Virgin mobile purchased)

it has something to do with the branding as it uses the same firmware as the SLVR L7 (no EDGE)

Is there a way to flash the V360v to be edge enabled? I originally had a cellc branded phone, but the phone kept on dropping calls, so I returned it and all I could get from the shop was a vodafone branded phone.

Okay so now which is it? EDGE or not, cause if there's no EDGE then I'm ridding myself of this Phone ASAP.
Is there a way I can check speed etc...?

Motorola V360v

i have flashed my v360v with a retail monster pack.now i have edge enabled and itunes(only with v3i) and a lot of other features
that the vodafone software don't have.like setting sound files on memory card as ringtones, unlimited video capture.........
goto www.howardforums.com and www.motomodders.com.
you will find all the tools and monsterpacks there.
i tested the speed on mtn egde.getting 160Kbps(20KBps)-200Kbps(25KBps)

I hope this helps.
