MP4 confusion

I have seen a number of titles on the news servers with a .mp4.001 .mp4.002 .mp4.003 format and am confused about what to do with these once downloaded. Are these in compressed format? (No .rar to be seen). Anyone have any ideas?

I think you need mastersplitter. http://www.tomasoft.com/

Associate .001 files with mastersplitter then click on the .001 file and it will reassemble the video file for you.
