MTN Data Rates?

Yeah, MTN = R399 for 1GB and maybe (depending who you speak to) a second GB free, Vodacom = R289 for 1GB or R389 for 2GB.

A nice thing about the Vodacom option is that when deplete your bundle you can just buy another, none of this multiple SIM swapping rubbish.

You mean you can't just buy another one with MTN? That sucks... hopefully it changes soon.

There is only R10 difference between getting 2GB from Vodacom and 2GB (currently) from MTN... and after being a Vodacom subscriber for about 10 years, I've had better service from MTN in two weeks, obviously only after getting past the call center (808), which I think is pointless... they don't seem to be authorised to do anything.

Pricing now the same as Vodacom. MTN no creativity.

Yes, may be same price, but am I happy. I use about 180MB/month, and on the 100MB/R80 package that edges in at R230. So I took the plunge to go to the 350MB/R210 package, only to discover that has now become R169!!!

Yay MTN. Service good (Did have to wait a LOOOOOONG time for the 808'er to verify the price drop :-), throughput good, pleasant people at 808: very happy camper.

Hello,

I wonder why these cellular companies don't provide us with off peak data charges? I mean.. who is actually using the country's internet at night except for telkoms employees who're downloading warez. lol They should really start getting pro active. And stop with their stupid advertising campaigns.

Reason why I came here is I need help with my data card. I love to game online and the MTN hsdpa is awesome for getting good response times. But alas my uploading speed is nowhere near hsdpa or even 3g standards. Can someone explain how will I get increased uploading speeds? Its really frustrating having 200ping when my download speed is 120KB with 10KBup.

cheers!

The busiest time on MTN's data network is from 19:00 to 01:00 the next morning.

"BOTTOMLESS CUP"

I'll 2nd that. MTN are faster and more reliable. Check the signal first and smile. They also have a 'bottomless cup' surprise where you buy a data bundle and it doesn't end for the whole of that evening. I can't predict when this happens, but it's working at the moment.

CAN U TELL ME MORE ABOUT THIS "BOTTOMLES CUP " DEAL FROM MTN?

Why is the 100 MB bundle more expensive per MB than the 75 MB bundle? It's cheaper to do 100 MB on the 75 MB bundle with 25 MB OOB.
