MTN`s Satellite

I read in some newspaper a while ago that MTN is planning to buy their own satellite. I`m just wondering, would that lead to cheaper call charges and data rates?

Do you have the original source of this "news"?

AFAIK there is nothing on the cards but it could be confused with either the partnership in the East African undersea cable or MTN's ownership of satellite distribution company Orbicom.
