Where can I find the software that should come with the E220 USB modem (link please)?

The CD that came in my box is Mac only.:mad::mad:

Running XP sp2.

I downloaded the dashboard software from Huawei but it doesn't detect the modem (sees it as a storage device only). I am assuming that I need the original CD before I can do any of the updates.

Where can I get the dashboard software that came with the modem?

thanks in advance.

:(

lol - thanks.

I think it might be the actual hardware now. Have tried the MTN software/drivers as well as the original Huawei ones. Both of them fail saying they cannot find the modem.

I have no tried this on 2 machines and both with the same result.

If anyone has any other bright ideas, i would love to hear them.

thanks

Try using the USB cable with the two connectors on one end and plug both into your PC, some PCs are unable to supply enough current on a single port to power the E220.

Check in your device manager, if one of the Huawei devices has a yellow warning symbol next to it, uninstall he device and get Windows to scan for new hardware again.

If the storage device is correctly detected, it will appear as a new drive letter in My Computer and you should be able to install the software from that device, no driver CD necessary.

How to Install an E220 USB Modem O_o

Here is what MTN fails to tell the average user(since MTN fails to acknowledge that not every user is an IT expert!)

The E220 comes with a MAC software cd as the software is built into the little black hardware thingy. Once you've plugged it in .. go to 'device manager' remove it as a MASS STORAGE DEVICE .. let it re-detect! .. it now will show 2 or 3 Unknown devices. Remember to disable any pass-through drivers like AnyDVD or the built in software simply won't run. Install the software.

Wait till your SIM is 'activated' on the network or you won't be able to connect -- they will tell you its active however it's completely random timing 12 to 48 hours. Remember to reboot without pass-through drivers enabled and just wait with modem plugged in. It will start & pop up the dashboard automatically after a while(10 to 30 seconds). If you force it before then it will not recognize SIM as active on network. Usually.

Download the Updated "F@stLink_Driver.zip" from MTN's site
(3files exist in that zip file)

-first one only applies to Vista users.

-second one is a 'firmware flash update' which will probably fail multiple times before you get it right/correctly installed. It will probably corrupt a few times forcing you to start the whole process over again. You will need to close down and restart and reboot between each update. Even if it fails.

-third one install after you reboot/unplug after completing the second install.
