Hi All. We have got a branch in Swaziland. The user there is seriously struggling with connectivity. No analog, diginet or ISDN is available. We have recently put in a siemens GPRS modem with a MTN sim card. Some days we can get a connection and other days nothing. I feel extremely hopeless. I initially thought we actually caught the SA signal as we are near the border but now it seems that we might be on the Swaziland MTN network. What to do next?

Swaziland coverage map

Does anyone know where I can get a coverage map of MTN - Swaziland?

Swaziland mtn network does not have data access. If you are connecting on gprs you are on the RSA network. The answer may be to get a antanae if it can connect to your siemens modem.

Absolutely, a good high gain out-door antenna would do wonders seeing that you already have partial coverage indoors. The speed will improve as well if the signal is improved.

Wouldn't hurt trying a simcard from the other SA networks too. There is a chance one network's tower may just be located more favourably with respect to signal in your area.

Edit: As a first shot, see if you can get on the roof with a cell phone and check the signal.

Does SA MTN provide automatic roaming for Swazi MTN? If not, then a SA MTN simcard in Swaziland will only look for SA MTN signals and subsequently only use them if available.
