I have had many firsts this week. Let me name them.

1. First Laptop - Acer Aspire 3054 from Incredible Connection
2. First HSDPA internet experience - Vodacom 500MB 24 month contract added - Total package incl. laptop was R515/month
3. First time to use Vista

I have not slept much the past few days. I have tested, setup, tweaked and enjoyed every moment. What would life be without the constant bliss of the latest electronics and software.

I found that Vista is just cool. Nothing more than XP, just cooler. Take note that the performance can be improved a lot with the right tweaks. I also use a 1GB SD card to use the ReadyBoost function within Vista. Just take note that it must be the ultra fast version (R279). I say that for those who might think they must go for the 1GB RAM laptops or pay for a 512MB RAM upgrade (R1100) at Incredible Connection.

I spent about 4 hours just to get the E220 modem to work with Vista. As much fun as it was, I was still disgusted that Incredible Connection do not take care of this for the customers. The guy at Somerset Mall asked me if I would like to buy the necessary support from them (R500). If you sell a package deal, all components should function together out of the box and that is it! Got the necessary info from a Youtube video.

I have also replaced my entire Home Theatre PC with the laptop. Works like a charm, although this AMD Sempron 3500+ and integrated graphics card cannot play DVD on the normal screen resolution. Not a problem until we can all actually get HD content. By that time I will upgrade to my next lappy wonder. Almost cant wait!

HSDPA is great. I average about 400Kbps. Good enough for Youtube. Good enough for me.
