National/International???

Hi all... just a newbie tryinging to make my way through this jungle of abbreviations and other strange words.....
Whilst searching for an ISP (other than Telkom), I now come across offers for national and international sites. Does this mean, that if I go for national, I cannot surf the www?? Perhaps someone out there can help? Who can help me find the best provider for my requirements?

national means you can only retrieve content which is hosted in south africa, international means all. now the ones that have lets say 2GB(intl)/28GB(local) means that your first 2GB of usage is fully open and unrestricted (unless shaped). so if you spend your first 2 gb of the month downloading local content, you've just wasted your international.

Gosh, this all sounds so totally complicated. After spending most of my life overseas (only now do I realise how EASY it all was... ) back to step 1. So does this mean, if I'm only keeping contact abroad and not downloading it doesn't really matter?

It all counts towards ur cap regardless of what you do. Get urself a 5gb SAOL account (R299) and ull be able to do what u like on the net. (Except go over 5gb of course)

I would still rather go for 3GB TelkomInternet for R249, cause then you will get more, but yeah that may just be me

There are no guarantees. Id rather pay R299 for a guaranteed 5gb than play mind games with Telkom and not know when im going to be capped...

Getting an IS account as ur main account is like leaving ur doors unlocked at night.
30gb local - i can understand, international IS - waste of time.

Well you know what I'm doing!!

Anyway, teach me . Why is IS international a waste of time?

They use satelite for most International bandwidth which becomes a problem when it rains,snows,is too sunny,is to windy or whatever.

I must be one of the lucky few that have never been capped below 13GB on one account
TelkomInternet and 1GB WebAfrica would probably be a nice bandwidth:Money ratio, except if you get capped at 4GB on TelkomInternet which doesnt really have that much of a chance.

see my ISP thread bout the combo packages, I dont see why I need to restrict my international when I want local.
