Might be easier to go for a stock rooted ROM like NeatROM 4.3 using CWM Recovery instead of Samsung USB drivers, Odin3 & flash from Win.

Choose Full if you want exact replica of latest Samsung 4.1.2 XWLSD stock ROM, or Lite if you want a slightly modded version stripped of Samsung bloatware.

PS: Would first check if CWM is working in your current rooted kernel i.e. start phone with Vol Up + Home + Power.

What an awesome rom, works perfectly and smoothly, thanks a mil, was alot easier to do than the last time if i can remember correctly.

I rooted my S3 but unrooted once I had a battery issue (indicator gets stuck at 100% until reboot, during discharge phone goes on to "charging" mode)

I also had a diff rom.

The easiest way for me to unroot and restore to factory rom was to use Samsung Kies (PC Suite)

Click on Tools -> Firmware Upgrade and Initialization

Enter your model number / serial number when prompted, once done it will download the necessary bits to perform the operation.

Once done with all the downloading, you must follow the instructions carefully as it instructs you to put the phone in DOWNLOAD ROM MODE (on my S3 it was Volume Down + Home + Power, in that order, holding it in, it will present u with the DOWNLOAD ROM Mode screen)

Kies will then restore your phone to 100% factory defaults (you might get a newer factory ROM too, I got 4.1.2 JB)

Goodluck.

Sorry, just to clarify, I had to do all this so it can be sent in... :)

Otherwise rooted ftw :)

Does this procedure reset the custom firmware counter on the phone?

I use Triangle Away (R23 from Play Store) to make sure its reset to 0 before re-flash stock firmware.

Not 100% sure, I also used Triangle Away just before I went back to factory rom (just to be safe).
