Connected my iburst modem to the ethernetm but now my other computer can't get the internet. Its a mac, not sure how to set it up so that it connects through the ethernet. Worked fine when i connect the modem through usb and then told the computer to connect through my computers internet connection. Want it to work like a residential gateway thingy, like window.

Please help

I'm not sure I understand you're problem. Are you saying that IBurst isn't working on the Mac OS, but works on Windows?

So you want to use Internet Connection Sharing? I have no idea whether this is possible from a Mac to Windows.

Well if it worked with USB I dont see why it shouldnt work on Ethernet. Make shure the new Ethernet connect has ICS enabled and and um ja.. like that should work.

yeah, well technically with ICS it shouldnt matter who the client is. The DHCP server on the ICS machine should allocate any client a IP addy, and then the rest is easy....

well at least that is in theory, in practice, things might not work that well, but I have heard of this working before...

Ok, le me try explain again.

I have my iburst modem connected to my ethernet hub. When i want to connect to the internet i dial up as usuall.
The problem is that I used to just make the iburst connection shared, so if the other computer needed to go on the net it would just dial up on my computer if not already connected.
But now that I have connected through my ethernet, i cannot do that anymore. Windows will not let me share the connection. Can someone please help me set up my mac os X to wprk of the iburst modem which is connected to the ethernet hub.

Thanks all

Tom - a possible workaround solution would be to install a proxy server on your Windows PC and let the Mac connect through that. ccProxy from www.youngzsoft.net is good and free for up to 3 users.

I have my ibust modem to a switch, it has an xp laptop, destop and a mac (occasionally) connected to it - I have manual ip addresses 192.168.x.x assigned to each, in the properties of network connections.

Tom, what exactly do you mean by saying the Windows wont allow you to share the connection? what error msg does it give?

Um, if I read the OP correctly, the UTD is connected over ethernet to a Mac. Right?
