New high speed 3G data cards

Any idea when the new higher speed data cards will be available from MTN? It was mentioned that it would be around September.

I want to sign a contract for the data card but don't want to get stuck with a slower card that can't take advantage of network speed increases. Just want to know how long I have to wait.

Let me rephrase the question, when will the Sierra Aircard 850/860 be available or any other 3G / HSDPA enabled data card.

I've tried to get this information from a MTN SP outlet but they don't even know what the difference between 3G and Edge is, not to mention HSDPA.

Hi,

There has been a bit of a delay at the manufacturers with most of the UMTS / EDGE capable devices, so I would not expect these to be available during September, but certainly before the end of the year.

I've been testing Nokia's RX-2 card from Duxbury for quite a while. Works fine for me. Connects @ 240 kb/s using old SIM, am still waiting for new USIM to test, but I'm sure it will connect at 384 in 3G zones?

I was refering to the newer cards that can go up to 1.8 mb/s, I just don't want to be left behind when the network is upgraded.

i am also wating for the sierra wireless 850 card , MTNHandsets please keep us posted , need to take out data contract
