I know, but the Lenovo costs R13,5k :o

Either way- I don't think you'd go wrong with the Lenovo or the GS60, both would be very good longer-term models because of their quad-core processors and better graphics cards. The Dell, for me, isn't on their level.

And there's also the GE60...

Why's no one mentioned anything about the Asus's? Are they not in the same category?

Compared to the Lenovo notebooks, the general impression I have on the forum is that the MSI ones have better build quality while the Lenovos are cheaper. In fairness I think anybody looking for a decent, sub-15k notebook should be considering the Lenovo Y5070 but also realize that it's not going to be as nice as the equivalent MSI, which would be probably the GS60 or GE60.

The GE60 here would be a good option: Link.
Depending on the model of the GPU (if the Lenovo has the Kepler vs the Maxwell 850m) it could be faster than the 860m in the Y5070.
 
I got a similar Dell (but no touch screen) around a year ago, and I'm very happy with it. You do pay a premium for the warranty, but it's worth it in my opinion. If you can't live without your laptop for a week or two (or even a month with some manufacturers), the Dell warranty is amazing compared to the rest.

I do suggest like others that you get an SSD - it makes a much bigger difference in performance than e.g. a CPU these days. If you can afford it, you can swap the HDD with a 512GB SSD, depending on your needs. Personally I'm not a fan of hybrid drives. I would have suggested that you can replace the optical drive with one of these: http://hddcaddy.com/, then I saw that the Dell doesn't have an optical drive to begin with. If you go with a different laptop it may be something to consider though.
 
The Asus ROG laptop gets my vote.

*Search for reviews of the Lenovo online, as I remember the display is not very bright.

Personally I am a Toshiba fanatic, as their laptop layout works 150% for a left-handed person and their displays are really good.

Good to know that about the MSI's. I do like the look of the GS60.
