Whenever you see a new phone on the net or at another network, please be patient and wait another year or two for MTN to launch it.

You would agree with me that it is in the best interest of thenetwork to flood the market with any and all manuafctured phone so as to get more contracts signed (from users like many of us wishing to get our hands on the latest devices)
Stringent procedures though need to be performed to make sure that the handsets intended for the SA market pass network operability tests. We would not want a device on the network that does not perform or would cause interference (noise) which is why we would send phones back to the manufacturer for adjustments to be made.
In most cases as well, manufactures have their own device release schedule, so you would be required to wait for handsets from when you see them on GSMArena till when the networks order their stock after testing.

Leaf claims that the JAMin is in network testing and will be ready in next month; but they've been saying that for 2 months.

I couldn't wait, so bought it from eBay.
Loving it, paid about R 5400 including shipping and tax.

What would help tons is if MTN had a specific release date for the new phones being released, a lot of SP's in the UK have "coming soon" phones on their website. The most irritating thing of all is being told "next month next month"

That's just the way it is. MTN doesn't want you to know because it is really all highly confidential and classified by the FBI, NSA, CIA, KFC, Nandos and few sangomas at MTN Towers as bad voodoo.

MTN doesn't even have proper website, and here you come asking for all kinds of freaky sh*t like advanced notice and whatnot.

Any news on the I-mate Jamin phone from MTN.. My contract ends at the end of this month and i want to know if they will have it or should i just buy it cash an go on one of cell-c's phoneless contracts ????
