You can buy from raru.co.za under their import section. I got the Spigen super slim case a while ago... Really not THAT super slim, but probably the best case for this PHAT ass phone

I wouldn't root unless you're comfortable with doing it every few month, the Nexus often gets the new Android versions first
You can root the phone, but then you need to manually apply the updates.
There is a Nexus toolkit from the Nexus 6 section on XDA that you can use that will do it for you, as it involves extracting certain files out of the update and flashing it manually. You'll obviously have to re-root afterwards again as well.
It isn't a major issue.
