Nokia 6600 help please

Since about two weeks ago my Nokia 6600 doesn't alert me when I get a message. The tone doesn't play, the vibrating feature doesn't work and the screen doesn't light up. The only thing that does happen is an envelope appears in the top right corner. When someone phones though it works perfectly :confused:

Anyone know anyway I can fix this problem?

I had this same problem on my Nokia N73, it got sorted out, not sure how exactly but this is what happend.

I was in a call and got an SMS, and i actaully got a beep from the phone. After that it started to alert me on messages.!! So try this if it works let me know :).

Thanks but it doesn't work, can one download and do a software update?
 
Thanks, not sure though how 2 do that I know how to format the memory card but not the phone
 
no problemo! My 6600 was my first S60 device, i love that phone, pitty i let my now ex use it, dunno if ill ever get it back from her.. kinda dunno if i want it back, memories

u can try this
turnoff your phone
and then keep press *,3 and Yes ,andthen press on button
after logo nokia , your phone will be formatting
in nokia is call hard reset metode
attention:
your phonebook,sms will be erase so before doing this
backup your phonebook
 
a word of advice, be very careful when you doing hard resetting on a phone, if your phone has a faulty ic on it, that's the end of your phone, trust me, it's my line of work
