Does anybody know if the 6680 that you get on contract from Vodacom is network locked? I'd like to get a phone that I can use on multiple cellular networks...

If locked, is it easy to unlock?(always possible)

Thanks guys,

not sure about all of them but my buddy bought a 6680(vodalive brand) and it works perfectly with his mtn sim

How do you download bluetooth received messages to the PC through the DKU cable ?

So, I got my 6680, it accepts all sims but has the vodafone live software on. Not like that's going to bother too much.

just so everybody knows.

It does not bother me. I changed the theme to Nokia1 so there's not much evidence of Vodacom branding then.

The Vodafone Live software does take a bite out of your phone’s main memory. I would suggest deleting the images from the phone memory (or move them) that Vodacom put there.

Just want to confirm: one can still install custom applications and such on the Vodafone 6680?

Some Vodafone phones used to be locked - only 'supported' software could be installed.

Does the Vodafone version also have the menu assigned to one of the softbuttons?

Dunno about the 'supported' software lock thing. My vodafone 6680 didn't give me hassles. There was a setting I had to change though to allow for installation of apps such as the netmonitor menu.

Yes, one of the softbuttons was assigned but you can change it to whatever you like.

EDIT: The phone isn't network locked either.

Okay, that sounds good. I prefer non-labeled version, but if it doesn't affect the normal operation of the phone and doesn't intrude too much, I'll live with it.

Is it available on a Weekender somewhere?
