Nokia N80 Wireless Help?

Hi!

Been having a hard time using my new N80's wireless LAN feature. Would Appreciate any help/suggestions. My problem is this:

I have a broadband connection at home, which I share via a wireless access point. Unlike all the other posts I have come across, my broadband modem/router and Wireless access point are not one singular unit. My broadband modem is connected via an 10port ethernet switch to my desktop PC and and a separate D.link wireless access point.

What I can't seem to accomplish is to connect to my broadband internet modem using the N80. I succeed in connecting to the d.link access point, but that's it... How do I go about connecting to the internet? How do I set up the N80 to accomplish this?

Any help would be great!

You need to ensure that your WLAN is working properly. By this I mean that you have sharing enabled, and that your other PCs/laptops etc. can see the network and can surf the internet.

I have a similar setup.

It is important to note that if you have an ad-hoc connection and not an access point, only one PC can connect to the network at a time.

In this is in order, you should be able to pick up the internet on your N80. Example, when opening a web browser, it will ask you to select an access point - choose search for WLAN - it should pick up your network.

I believe my Home Wireless LAN to be set up correctly. (I do not use ad-hoc network, I use infrastructure)

My desktop PC is connected to the broadband modem via the ethernet switch, so that part is no problem.
I often use my wlan enabled notebook to connect to the net via the dlink wireless access point( which is connected to the broadband modem via the switch ).
File sharing is enabled and I often send files from PC to notebook or vice versa.
Everything seems to be working fine. The only problem is geting connected to the net when using the n80...

Whenever I connect to the internet (be it from the desktop pc, wired to the modem via the switch, or wirelessly from the notebook via the access point), I manualy connect by double clicking on the appropriate connection under network connections. This usually brings up the window showing my username and password, from where i click on connect etc.
But how or rather Where do I input these details on the N80?

When setting up an access point on the n80, where and how do I let it know what my username and password are?
What homepage do I assign as default homepage?
In Advanced settings, do I make the Default Gateway address the same as my broadband modem's IP?

Sorry for flooding you with all these questions! I think i'm just missing something obvious or simple, but can't figure it out.

If you only want to surf the net, you don't need to set up anything.
Open your web browser (Menu, My Own, Web).

Press Options, select Settings.
Change the Access Point setting to ALWAYS ASK.
Press BACK

Type in a web address (e.g. www.google.com)
Press GO TO

The N80 will then ask you the following:
Connection to server needed. Connect?
Press YES.

You will see CONNECTING. Then you will see SEARCHING FOR AVAILABLE ACCESS POINTS. Then you will get a menu asking SELECT ACCESS POINT.
Choose SEARCH FOR WLAN.
The N80 should pick up your home network, select it.

It will then ask for password etc.

Hopefully you will be surfing in no time.

Just tried your advice. After entering my WPA2 encryption key, the n80 connects to the home network, but when it tries to access the webpage I get the error message: Web: No Gateway reply

Could this be something that needs to be fixed/corrected on the broadband modem or the access point itself?

Sorry JSM, you have me stumped on that one. The only thing I can think of is that your router must be working well and the internet connect must be shared properly - I think you need to search for the solution along those lines.

How do I share my N80 media with the PC via WLAN??

Hi guyz!
I have managed to connect to the internet on my N80 via Wi-Fi (ad-hoc)..
But when I try to share media via "Home Network", the "Waiting for devices" screen appears??
Any idea what to do next??

your router is in bridged mode maybe thats the problem
