Noseweek: SELEBI: New payola bombshell

maybe... probably has dirt on loads of people ... thank goodness we have people like noseweek who are prepared to go to press on stuff like this ..

Have read the Noseweek report and claims have been made against Selebi that still need to be substantiated.
One thing though, Noseweek are not in the business of making or printing baseless articles.
Have to agree with Hogarth in the Sunday Times
The national police commissioner is a Mampara of note, and that note is off-key and stinks something horrid — much like the unwelcome flatus of a very large and exceptionally arrogant swine gorging itself at the public trough.
:D:D
Also in the Sunday times it seems as if the unilateral vote of confidence given to Selebi by INTERPOL was not so unilateral after all
Interpol is scheduled to discuss the future of its president, SA National Police Commissioner Jackie Selebi, during its general assembly in Morocco later this year.

This emerged after this week’s three-day Interpol symposium in Johannesburg, which ended in a public-relations disaster for Selebi’s media team after it tried to stop the media from raising uncomfortable questions about Selebi.

In November, the Sunday Times published a dossier detailing how Selebi had become embroiled in a criminal investigation as the result of his friendship with alleged Mafia boss Glenn Agliotti. Agliotti has admitted orchestrating the murder of mining magnate Brett Kebble in an “assisted suicide” in 2005; Selebi, who has maintained his innocence, has come under fire over his remarks that Agliotti was his friend, “finish and klaar”.

Within days of the Sunday Times article, Interpol released a statement declaring its full support for Selebi, whose term as president of the organisation runs until 2008.

However, it has now emerged that Interpol’s 186 member states were not consulted on the matter and that the allegations against Selebi will come up for discussion at the general assembly in October.

It seems as if the South African national police spokesman, Director Selby Bokaba is just as competent as his boss with dealing with the media, dumb and dumber.
After the interview, a furious Bokaba shouted at the Sunday Times reporter: “Go to hell! The nearest one! Forever!” and asked his colleagues: “How can he [Noble] talk to me like that, telling me he is not a child?”
Rofl
The secretary general of Interpol is not a child Mr Bokaba
