Official Motorola RAZR thread (Android version)

10.2 is out which is JB 4.3 based. Just finished downloading it. Going to see how this one goes.

What is it with some of these roms? I use app backup and restore for my apps. But with some roms app backup and restore reads the phones internal memory. So when I try change the path in settings so the app reads from the memory card the app bombs out. Maybe I should use titanium backup?

Rooted my phone, installed clockworkmod, rebooted to backup which failed, then ended up an encryption failed boot loop :(:(:(.

Did an AP flashboot to get back to default.

Not a good experience :(.

Wanted to install cm11 (android version 4.4 Kitkat). Was/am on JB 4.1.2.

Am I the only one for whom this phone has become extremely sluggish? Even after multiple factory resets...

Before I upgraded, mine was REALLY laggy and at times downright irritating, this even rooted and running CM10.2

After endless troubleshooting the sluggish performance on ICS, I'm finally going to get around to flashing JB. A few questions:

- I'm on MTN ZA ICS, can I flash directly to EU JB?
- Will it wipe everything? If so, which backup/restore apps do you guys recommend?
- Is there an easier to understand guide to doing this? This one doesn't make much sense. I just want something that says download x and do y :(

1. I'm on Vodacom, should work on MTN too.

I haven't use any backup (which is why I lost files on the aborted attempt to update to Kitkat).

The videos above are pretty indepth. I just loaded the update zip into rsdlite and went into ap flashboot on startup. NB: That will wipe out your apps and app data if you don't backup. Your SD card data like photos should survive though.

Thanks dude. So it needs to be rooted before you can do this?

Been a while since I've tinkered with flashing gadgets and the like so forgive my ignorance :(

Just to clarify, I don't need to flash EU ICS first and then EU JB, but can go directlt to EU JB from ZA ICS?

What's the step-by-step method for RSD Lite? This is what I've managed to gather so far:
- Load up the hidden start menu by doing that trick with the volume and power buttons upon startup
- Go to Fastboot, select it with the volume+ button.
- Plug phone into laptop with USB debugging enabled, start RSD Lite.
- Load the zip file into RSD Lite.
- Flash.

Anything else? I read something about finding an xml file inside the zip file and deleting the first two lines or something to that effect. Thanks again :)

I went to EU ICS before the ZA OTA version was available...

That's the steps that I did. Didn't do the xml thing.
