Overnight Disconnections

As its the second day in a row where I see there was some kind of disconnection during the night, and I had to reconnect when I get to pc (usually anywhere from 5.30am - 6am) - I thought I'd mention it, just to see if any others have also experienced this. (I dont have a logging method to tell me what time the disconnect happens.) Am currently connecting to Rosebank..

Being paranoid, I operate on the old policy of 'Once is Happenstance - twice is Coincidence - but the third time is Enemy Action'..

Dunno about during the night, but here at work I have to keep a ping going, otherwise I have to reconnect [actually disconnect first] after a period of inactivity. I know they mentioned something about this, but what is the time period, and why do I physically have to disconnect before reconnecting?

<edit>Looks like less than 10 minutes of inactivity causes a drop (despite MSN being logged in)</edit>

I'm also on Rosebank. I was up most the night till 4.30am. I do remember losing the connection at some point during the storm. Maybe around 2am. The rain was heavy. And the wind picked up. But I reconnected within a few minutes. And everything was fine till I hit the sack. I left some large downloads runnning. When I checked my PC at 9am, the connection had been dropped yet again. But it must have been a lot later because the downloads (>250MB) were 80% done. I connected it immediately and the downloads resumed at full kilter.

Not sure why it didn't just "redial" but maybe its because I'm using a freeware D/L meter that likes to crash when the modem disconnects. Gonna have to change it.

So in summary, there was certainly some downtime in the night. I guess about 2am and again about 6am.
