i barely switch the tv on, but today for the 1st time in about a week i had it on after swapping some hdmi cables.
but i see dstv is not working: " the channel may be blocked to to an amount owing on your account"
so i fire up the complete piece of crap their app is and i see:
"amount due R20.00, next payment 29 august 2026". - today - today is still 29th.

i get on to the live chat - eventually - customer service guy and i go round in circles.
he is telling me it must be paid on 28th
i'm telling him the app is saying next payment 29th
and so the conversation goes in circles.

i tell him they need to reconnect my service and then i will pay - within 10minutes, or they can shut it down again.
well, they did not connect, and i will not be paying them R20.
for the sake of R20, a whole R20, they will no longer get to milk my hind teat for R700pm any longer - no more R8500 per year , R700pm can buy a rather nice scotch each month instead !

got amazon prime, got netflix, got apple tv - and the things we are not supposed to have - endless dstv payments out of for of habit have gone on for way too long.
this divorce has been long in the making, but i'm not going to be held hostage.

Careful @Grant if you don't know, their billing system is bonkers - that R20 "owed" actually likely means you're then still about R680 in credit.

And never heard of a disconnect due to just R20 of the next month outstanding, strange. Why not rather disconnect a day or so before the end of the next cycle.

Maybe the error itself was misleading, these chat guys aren't too good. Call centre may well do better.

The guy was good, we had a civilised conversation - but he had to toe the line in keeping with the toxic mentality endemic to that organization.

But for schits & giggles, I should lodge a formal complaint anainst them with ICASA. for me it will be a couple of emails, but for them a whole lot of ppl will get tied up over the R20 value of a packet of niknaks.

And they complaining why they losing customers....I wonder why.
This was probably the cherry on the cake and not the 1st thing but it was the last straw.

I had my cherry and also will never go back.
