phone from overseas?

hi, a friend of mine is going to singapore soon, and i was wondering if it is possible to buy a cellphone over there (e.g. the SE k800i) and use it over here with a vodacom simcard?

Sure, just make sure that the phone is not blocked. Most phones sold there will be unblocked, but just ask him to make sure it is not blocked. Just remember you will not have any warranty, unless you take it back/ship it back, should you have any problems. As a tourist you can also claim back most of the sales tax you pay, at the airport.

If the phone is not tight on contract, it will be open to any network.
