I am in the Wapadrand area in the East of Pretoria, near Silver Lakes. It seems we don't get 3G, iBurst or Sentech here so I am stuck with the very reliable Telkom. Now another problem, it seems Telkom doesn't have cables in this area and they say it could take 2 months! I need it for business purposes ASAP. Does anyone know of another option I can try? Thanks!!

erm? Sentech VSAT for extremely over priced charges, or have you tried MTN Edge? Your last option is to move.

Vodacom GPRS is slow & expensive as primary Internet acces.

But it does work - for emergencies like this.

PM vodacom3g and ask him when (and if) they plan to roll out 3G in that area.

Your other option is to lay a complaint with ICASA that Telkom is not able to supply the services in a major urban development within a reasonable time. They are slow, but maybe they are faster than Telkom.

IN GENERAL

We did a feasablility study for a client recently -

Vodacom GPRS is cheaper than dialup(56k). I would imagine for moderate amounts of data that the same same holds true for GPRS compared to ISDN.

Keep in mind though that the client was a business ie no R7 weekend deals or anything like that were taken into consideration
