I'm having a strange problem with my phone when trying to retrieve POP Email. I have set up 5 different mail accounts on my Samsung D600, and only 2 are working (yet I know that all 5 are "up" and active).

When trying to connect to the POP3 server at work, I get a timeout. The same happens with TelkomSA POP3. Gmail tells me that my username and password are incorrect, but I have double checked numerous times, and I have compared my settings to another phone that WORKS.

Only MTNLoaded and Webmail POP mail seems to work.... Any ideas? I am using the "wap_proxy" profile that was sent to me by the MTNLoaded website (which is the same as dialling *123#.

StNick,

Please post the MTNLoaded POP mail settings for the D600 here. Please post the mail account and mail profile settings. It would be greatly appreciated. I tried having these sent to the D600 from MTN's website, but when I try and open the OTA message, it says config error.

The MTN Email settings (email4life as received from MTN) are as follows:
Account Name: email4life
User name: <cell number> (ie. 083xxxxxxx)
Email address: <cell number>@mtnloaded.co.za
Reply address: <blank>
User ID: <cell number>
Password: <MTNloaded pin> (I am guessing this one. Mine says ****. :P )
SMTP server: mail.mtn.co.za
SMTP port: 25
POP3 server: mail.mtnloaded.co.za
POP3 port: 110
APOP and Secure connection NOT ticked.

Thanks so much! There are some message profile settings as well. What are those?

I also started getting problems yesterday. POP still worked but SMTP (to mail.gmx.net) suddenly stopped working. No error message, it also seemed to be a time-out. Have switched to the MTN SMTP server.

Could it be that certain mail servers are now refusing connections to certain blocks of IP addresses?

Profile name: Email4Life
APN: myMTN

...and the rest all blank... Not sure what these are used for. It looks as though my phone just uses the same profile settings as the browser.
