I have read a lot about Homeplug, HomePNA and the like. Anyone that can tell me if this really works in SA, and that would like to suggest a supplier or product. I would greatly appreceate input from members with experience ....

Ethernet over power only gets 14mps if you're lucky. You might be in the same buidling/house but if you have two (power) circuit boards then you need to get a electrician to bridge the two so that the signal can jump.

I never heard about the ethernet over telephone lines before, but it can only work if you have a telephone point in the desired location, and I don't know the speed.

As for suppliers, Try Miro - 0861231232 they do homeplugs.

You can even get a homeplug router/4port switch (I think) and connect even bigger better.

Go Wi-Fi, it will work you out the same and you will get better results since our airwaves are standard to the rest of the world and not out powerlines.

homeplugs or ethernet-over-power does work in south africa. Expect to see more suppliers carry it because I know of a local manufacturer introducing it to the market.

Also expect ones with power-over-ethernet capabilities - so you would only need one power point for ethernet and power

PM me if you want some contacts
