Pricing on Dell 20" & 24" Widescreen LCD's

Pm Ap0c, he can get a quote for you, I am going for the Dell 20" rather than the Viewsonic

After reading all the reviews, i think the Dell has a better panel, so colour and brightness might be a little better, http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1039222, the panel used is the S-IPS panel which i think is a better panel giving better colours, the viewsonic exterior looks better to me though.

I would personally go for the Viewsonic simply for the warranty. If you want a Dell, get one with a warranty. Buying an LCD without one is very risky. Granted Dells are very reliable, but things do happen!

I also think the dell is a better panel, I have bunch of the 17" ones

I personally prefer the dell design much better than the viewsonic

you can buy the dell displays from www.dell.co.za, phone them and bargain for a better price than what advertised on the site, it works well especially if you are buying few or more displays

what do you mean? Dell comes with 3 year exchange warranty as standard!!!

I mean buying through non-Dell channels, such as what has been suggested earlier on in this thread.

Wise man. BenQ have a 24" coming as well and they claim it's the first LCD to offer official 1080p input support.

Hmmm I still dont know about BenQ they make me think of Sahara.
A general rumour (note: rumour != truth) going around is that a lot of the BenQ stuff is just rebranded Sony equipment. I know this is true at least for their DVD media cos that's what Nero tells me when I pull the media ID from a blank BenQ disc.

another rumour has it, that even though they are made in the same factory, the ones that are sold as Sony are the ones tha have passed the quality standards, while the ones sold as Benq, are the ones that didn't

I have heard that for another product, not for displays, but I would expect to hold in the display market as well

No ways. BenQ are on the cutting edge when it comes to new panels. I can't follow link now (local bandwidth only :p ) but look for coverage at Hexus of their new 24". I had the 20" widescreen, but had to sell it to get me 24" Dell. I loved it and wish I had it back now as my second screen.

People I know who have bought the BenQ LCDs have all reported being happy so far. Even have a 2ms 19" for R2699.00

BenQ is Esquire Technology.

The viewing angles on that 20" BenQ are so inferior to the Dell 2405. You basically have to sit dead-on with it otherwise the one side goes dark.

I'm glad I sold mine.

And don't you just love SA pricing.....

Dell 2007FPW:
- US = $414
- SA = R5094

And don't tell me about crap like R/$ exchange, petrol, import costs etc. because even with all those in you wouldn't get to that price!
