Hi guys,

I just got myself a 19 inch widescreen lcd monitor (fujitsu-siemens) and I am having problems in setting the optimum resolution for it. My graphics card (NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700) does not seem to support the 1440 by 900 resolution. I've got the latest drivers for my card but that has not helped. Any suggestions as to how I can solve this problem.

Thx

Vernon

Hi koffiejunkie,

My OS is windows XP Pro sevice pack 2.

Well, long ago I wanted to do some funny resolutions, and I searched through the registry for the places where available resolutions are listed, then added the ones I want. I can't even remember what I was using then - think it was NT4 with an SiS graphics card.

I would imagine the screen comes with a drivers disc that tells Windows what modes to make available?

You can set custom screen resolutions in the NVidia Control Panel.

It is under the "Change Resolution Attributes" option.

You must install the latest NVidia driver to get this control panel.

No, I have tried that. There is no option to change it to 1440 by 900. I presume the latest Nvidia drivers you are refering to are the Forceware- V9147.

Apparently these drivers has a problem with 1440x900.

Found this.

Just a heads up, this driver has some issues with widescreen resolutions. I have a 19 inch Widescreen LCD and after installing these drivers I could not select the native resolution of 1440x990. The highest res available via the nvidia control panel was way lower than this and I couldn't find anyway to add custom resolutions.Furthurmore I didn't notice any performance gains at all with my 7900 GT.

I simply reverted back to the WHQL beta 84.56 drivers that have worked wonders with my 7900 GT in all my games. With those drivers I also have the 1440x900 resolution available. So I guess it worked best for me like that.

Thx dualmeister, I might have something to work with now.:)

I have a Fujitsu 19" widescreen and have not had a problem with 1440x900.
I am currently using the 91.36.

The only thing that bugs me about the monitor and the screen res. is that some games dont support 1440x900 so i end up losing the sides of the game, most of the time the important stuff is down the right or left side of the screen...
