problems solved...

This only affects ping pickets. Your gaming data packets should be fine, or is your game affected too?

yeah right, it has also affected my gaming ping from 50 to 120+ I consider that to be affecting my service!?!

If they really wanted to prevent the spread of virii, then why not drop all M$ netbios traffic - ports 135 - 139 and port 445? This will have a better result at the end of the day because the network will suddenly not be so congested with the M$ crap traffic and less virii will beable to spread - users with open shares, etc...

I'd much rather take my chances with viruses than have a 100+ ping...thanks for the linux info i was wondering why some peeps wern't affected.

Sorry here is a more clear explanation of what has happened to your pings. Forget the Linux nonesense I wrote earlier, my ISP gave me silly info.
I have also heard from a reliable source at SAIX that this is temporary and only a network issue that will be resolved in time.
Another rumor is this:

"Due to the break in the undersea cable
they have load balancing on the peering points
they will sort it out eventually
so the intl traffic is routed through the same exchange as the local peering points, hence the inflated pings."

I know this is not reliable info, but it is better than no info which is what we are getting from SAIX. Well whatever the real situation is I believe that this will be fixed eventually...[;)]
