I've never played online. I have 3G capped every month on a 384kbps... Is that good or bad for RPG?

I take it ure referring to a mmorpg?
If so then it really depends on the game itself. Some might be quite heavy on bandwidth whilst others are quite light.

So unfortunately no yes or no from me but rather you will have to ask a specific question like. Is wow bandwidth intensive?

I know wow takes more bandwidth than for instance eve-online but that's due to the way that you interact with the game world.
Hell u might just want to play a browser based rpg then a 384/3gb cap is more than enough.

I'll tell you this though. A friend plays on a 512/3g account all day and nite and he never runs out of cap when he plays eve. :)

i have 3 pc's running World of Warcraft and GuildWars on a 512k line and no worries .... " unshaped is better options for latency / but playable on shaped"

only thing is patches that mauls the bandwidth and cap ....

yes 3gig is more than enuff . even for 2-3 pc's..

As others mentioned, depends on the game.
GuildWars is very friendly with bandwidth and latency. WoW is not.
Some MMORPGs can even be played on iBurst, GPRS, EDGE, 56k, etc.
3G should be more than enough for most of the games. BF2 is very thirsty.
In general, a 3G shaped 384 adsl line will do fine for most games.
