greetings all. my first post here on mybroadband forums. just like to say im from cape town and share many frustrations of the people on here concerning our sorry state of affairs in sa pertaining to telecommunications and related aspects. that being said, id like to ask a question about offering voip services. me and a partner own a small IT company and we are currently busy researching and "piloting" a software pbx system using voip that we wish to resell to clients as a potential business endeavour. the entire system will be routed through our servers and will obviously "exchange" between telkom/saix/etc lines and hardware including signals and voip and its related aspects.
my question is basically: what licenses and/or other legal aspects would be required of us to offer such a service? i read earlier that icasa isnt handing out "vans" licenses anymore and is in the process of determining the new regulations and all that, which could still take very long. should we perhaps then just go ahead and do it anyhow if there are no other restrictions, except the "vans" license, seeing as how some others on the forum have also simply gone ahead, because icasa cannot give them a straight answer?surely everything cannot come to a standstill because of some bureaucratic messup. thanks for your time, and if there are any extra details pertaining to my question you would like to know in regards of better answering it, please let me know. thanks again.
